SPIDERS!

What do you know about spiders?  4th graders read a story last week about spiders and we took the time to demonstrate the things we know and the things we learned.  What an outstanding experience to share what we are learning.

It took some 4th grade teamwork to get the spider pattern traced.  Everyone seemed excited to show what they learned about spiders!

Here are the finished projects!

Unit two Week 4 TOP Spellers with a LITTLE ATTITUDE????

Once again we had a LARGE percentage of 4S students doing WELL on spelling!  WE were so proud of the students recognizing the different spelling patterns used with the "BOSSY r".  (or, oor, ore, and ar)

Miss Gracie missed the 'GROUP' shot so she was added individually!!  Way to go, GIRL

Can we say THEIR true personality is coming through???

Descriptive Writing

Write about a pet or another animal you know well.  Here is some FABULOUS writing!

I have a pet and it is a dog.  It eats dog food.  He is brown and black and white.  He sleeps anywhere he wants.  It is as tall as my knee.  He has floppy ears.  He likes to play with me the most!
                                                                                                        Written by Braxton

I have a dog named Miles Austin.  He is as white as a snowflake.  When I move, he will sleep with me.  Miles is a teddy bear.  We got him on a farm right outside of town.
                                                                                                        Written by Landon

I have a dog.  He's white and yellowish.  He's a mix breed.  His name is Scooby.  He sleeps with my dad and sometimes with me and my sister.  He eats table scraps sometimes and dog food.  He stinkin' loves treats.
                                                                                                           Written by Quinlan

I have a black kitten.  She is as black as a piece of scratch paper.  My cat eats food and the type of food is chicken.  My cat likes to attack your feet every morning when you get up.  She is very hyper everyday and she likes to attack the Christmas tree.
                                                                                                            Written by Gracie

                                                               My Pet Dog
My dog is a Yorkie.  His name is Bear.  He is soft like a cloud in the air.  Something funny he does is he goes side to side.  He eats doggy chow.  He is so cute.

Landon performed the drama as the prince.  Robert also played the wise old man that gives the princess a way to turn the prince into a bird so he can fly into the castle and talk with the princess.

DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA Part 3

From left to right:  Mrs. S, Taime, Gracie, Carissa, Quinlan, Eli, and Abby perform the drama "Saving the Green Bird" by Phillppa Werry.
Eli is playing the part of the green bird/prince.  Abby is playing the part of Ally who is left at home to do all the housekeeping while her sisters go and shop.
Carissa is playing Michelle and Gracie is playing Eve.  They are tired from all the shopping they have done and they are making sure Ally has done all her chores while they were away.
Quinlan is playing two parts, the sun and the eagle.  The sun is too busy to help Ally find the green bird, but the eagle does help her.  Mrs. S. is playing the wind who also is too busy to help since she is blowing the wrong direction.  Taime had parts as the moon along with the cook.  The cook directs Ally to the bedroom to find the green bird/prince.
Does Ally find her prince?  Does she have to go back to doing housework for her sisters?  These students can answer that question!

DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA Part 2

From left to right:  Jackson, Mariah, Keegan F, Ashton, Joseph, and Trista perform the drama "The Ant and the Grasshopper"
Scene 1:  Joseph played the termite, which is the narrator.  Ashton is playing the ant who is working very hard to collect water for the rainy season.  Keegan is playing the grasshopper who thinks ant is working too hard.  There is plenty of rain right now, so why work to collect water.
Scene 2:  Mariah played the termite, the narrator of the story.  Jackson plays the ant who has plenty of water to drink now that it is the dry season.  Trista plays the grasshopper.  She is now regretting not collecting water when she had the chance.
Does ant give grasshopper some water?  Ask these kids how the drama ends.

DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA! Part 1

From left to right:  Addy, Nolan, Kinzie, Tatum, Tade, and Aliah perform the drama "Behind the Secret Trapdoor" by Philippa Werry.
Tade plays the king who is giving away his crown to the best suited heir.  Nolan plays the oldest brother who assumes since he is the oldest that he will be the new king.  Aliah is the middle brother and would at least like to share some of the power.  Kinzie plays the youngest brother who guesses he won't be picked to rule, but will do everything the King asks of him.
Kinzie consults with Great Toad played by Addy.  Tatum is playing one of her several roles in the play, a little green toad who eventually turns into Sam's wife.
Tatum is being presented to the King as the brothers' true love.  (She played all the wives in the play.)

Who is the heir to the throne?  You will have to ask these students for this answer!
