What is a Number Sentence?

Learning What a TRUE Number Sentence Is...
Did you know that a true number sentences must be a complete equation and the answer.

Ashton and Keegan are showing their ability to know this sentence is not complete because it is an OPEN sentence.

We are just beginning algebra.  We are solving the missing variables.  Your child will be increasing their problem solving skills when they have to figure out what strategy to use in figuring out the MISSING VARIABLE.

How would you have solved the following problems?

5 * h = 45
solve by... 45/5 = h
h = 9
5 * 9 = 45

r/6 = 3
solve by... 6 * 3 = r
r = 18
18/6 = 3

42 + g = 69
solve by... 69 - 42 = g
g = 27
42 + 27 = 69

p - 34 = 65
solve by ... 65 + 34 = p
p = 99
99 - 34 = 65
